We may be late, but we're still here. So let's talk about Xplosion.
The Match of the Week was one I think I remember. And more importantly, it made me feel old.
2007 was seven years ago. I was sixteen when this match first aired. Blimey.
I'd like to point out that three out of the four participants in the match are still with TNA. And that's awesome.
Oh, and Samoa Joe won all the title belts in one fell swoop. And how is that not the best thing ever?
I'll tell you how: because of the Xplosion Xclusive match. Which was the battiest thing on this show since Rockstar Spud wrestled Crazzy Steve.
You know, if there were one match I never expected to see on any TNA programming, it would be Mr Anderson versus Rockstar Spud.
And yet that is exactly what Xplosion gave to us.
And this match was...
No. I don't think I can find words to describe how unbelievably ridiculous it was.
Every single moment had me laughing. It was that freaking daft.
Some of my favourite parts?
Spud trying to be bad-ass by spitting gum at Anderson.
Anderson's many long-suffering facial expressions.
And the chase sequence that was crying out for the Benny Hill music.
But the best bit was probably Earl Hebner slamming Spud for accidentally giving him a knife-edge chop.
You don't cross Hebner, apparently.
This is exactly what Xplosion should be: ridiculous, high-energy, anarchic, family-friendly fun.
And I loved every minute.
